Spaces and how they are used
The same halls as show days, but unlit in places, noisy and without carpet in the aisles until the last hours. Access is on contractor badges with high-visibility vests and closed shoes required by the venues; some organisers restrict photography to the exhibitor's own stand during build-up.
Light, sound, access and timing
Light. Work lights and partial hall lighting; stand lighting is switched on late in build-up, which is when the clean shot for the builder is taken. Sound. Not a time for interviews. Access. Contractor badge, vest, closed shoes; the walk-through takes fifteen minutes. Timing. The last evening of build-up, after the stand is finished and before the aisles are carpeted, is the builder's photograph; the morning before opening is the exhibitor's.
