Gulfood 2027: dates, venues and hours
The show runs five days, Monday 15 to Friday 19 March 2027, moved into March to fall after Ramadan. Hours are 10:00 to 18:00, with the closing day ending at 17:00. The exhibition is split between Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City, with twelve product sectors across the two sites; Gulfood Green, the sustainable food and agri-tech zone, sits inside the show at Expo City. Confirm which venue and hall your stand is in first: the sites are a long drive apart and an experienced crew cannot be at both for the 09:00 clean set. If your brand is in both, either the venues are sequenced, DWTC in the morning and Expo City from early afternoon, or a second crew is added. The Gulfood page carries the current edition's details; the DWTC versus Expo City comparison explains how the two venues differ on the day.
Why food stands need a different plan
Food is the one product that changes through the day. Plated product dries, chocolate blooms under stand lighting, fresh produce wilts in a hall that is cold but dry, and a tasting counter that was immaculate at opening is crumbs by 11:00. The product photography that feeds the catalogue, the online store and the distributor pack has to happen before the doors open, with the chef or product manager on hand to plate fresh. Buyers also behave differently: importers and distributors from across the region arrive with a list of stands and a short time per stand, and a tasting with a real buyer is the picture that proves the product travels. The food and beverage hub shows what finished sets look like for different categories.
Product before opening: the forty-minute studio
The stand is a product studio for about forty minutes, from badge entry until the first visitor. The order:
- The range, clean. Every product on the shelf, packaging squared and labels facing, wide and then by product family. Ten to fifteen frames.
- Hero packshots. The three to five products you want in the catalogue, isolated against your own graphics or a plain panel, with controlled light rather than hall light. Delivered the same day, ready for the online store.
- Plated product and ingredients. Prepared by your chef, photographed with a macro lens: texture, pour, steam where it exists. Five to eight frames per dish.
- The stand itself. Wide from the aisle, three-quarter from each corner, detail of the branding, for the stand builder and next year's planning.
- Team portraits. Individually and as a group against the graphics, delivered before lunch for LinkedIn.
The guide to photographing food and drink on a stand covers lighting and styling in detail.
The five-day rhythm
Five days is long for a stand team and too long for a single full-coverage booking. What works:
- Day one (Monday). Full coverage: product studio before doors, visitors and tastings from 10:00, the ministerial or pavilion opening where it passes your hall, interviews between 14:00 and 16:00, first selects before close, the set and recap film the same evening.
- Days two to four. Blocks of two to four hours timed to what is in the diary: a distributor meeting at 11:00, a chef's demonstration at 13:00, a signing at 15:00. Three to five vertical clips per block. One short interview per day with a buyer or distributor who is already at the stand.
- Day five (Friday, closes 17:00). A short block for the closing team photograph and anything missed. Traffic is lighter and the product is tired; the budget is better spent earlier in the week.
Tastings, buyers, chefs and the pavilion
Show-hours coverage at Gulfood is about hands and faces: the sample passed across the counter, the buyer's reaction, the chef plating at the live station, the export manager explaining a shelf. The crew works from the edge of the stand with longer lenses so a conversation with a real buyer is never interrupted; recognisable visitors are asked where required. The export manager's interview, recorded with a lavalier microphone in the quieter early afternoon and subtitled in English and Arabic, becomes the opening clip of the distributor pack.
Companies inside a national pavilion have an extra layer: the pavilion opening by the trade delegation, a set for the pavilion organiser, and one set per co-exhibitor so each company leaves with its own content. The national pavilion guide describes how that is split.
A worked example: a dates and confectionery exporter in a pavilion at DWTC
A dates and confectionery exporter shares a national pavilion in the Sheikh Saeed Halls. The crew is on the stand at 09:00 on the Monday: the gift boxes squared and shot by family, six hero packshots with controlled light, the pavilion wide. The trade delegation opens the pavilion at 10:30; the crew covers the walkthrough from inside the pavilion footprint and sends twelve selects to the organiser and the exporter by 11:30. Over lunch the first tastings run with retail buyers from the region; the export manager records an eight-minute interview at 14:30 that is cut to 45 seconds with subtitles. By 20:00 the exporter has the product set for the online store, the pavilion set, the interview and a 60-second recap in both formats. On the Wednesday a two-hour block covers a distributor signing and three vertical clips of the counter at its busiest.
What goes wrong at Gulfood, and what we need from you
- Product arrives late. Samples held in customs or in the cold store until 09:45. Fix: keep one presentation set of each product on the stand from build-up, and shoot that before the doors open.
- The wrong venue. The crew is booked for DWTC and the stand is at Expo City. Fix: confirm hall and stand number from the exhibitor portal, not from last year's plan.
- Hall light on chocolate and glass. Fix: controlled light for the packshots, shot before the aisle lighting changes.
- Nobody free to be interviewed. Fix: a fixed 20-minute slot per person, early afternoon, days one to three.
From you we need the venue and stand number, badges for the crew, the product priorities, the names of people to interview and one approver on WhatsApp. From LUMIQ: the product and stand set before doors, visitor and tasting coverage, interviews with subtitles in English and Arabic, a recap film in 16:9 and 9:16, vertical clips, all delivered the same day by download link with two revision rounds and usage rights for your own channels. Quick answers
Do you cover both Gulfood venues?
Yes. DWTC and Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City are sequenced on one booking, or a second crew is added when both stands need the morning clean set.
Can you photograph our products for the catalogue at the stand?
Yes, in the forty minutes before the doors open, with controlled light rather than hall light, delivered the same day.
Do you cover national pavilions at Gulfood?
Yes, with the pavilion opening, a set for the organiser and one set per co-exhibitor.
What are the Gulfood 2027 dates and hours?
15 to 19 March 2027, 10:00 to 18:00, with the closing Friday ending at 17:00.
Should we book coverage for all five days?
Usually a full opening day plus shorter blocks on days two to four; the last day rarely needs more than a short block.
